Description

Mooncup is the original, soft, medical-grade silicone menstrual cup designed by women as the convenient, safe and ecofriendly alternative to tampons and pads.

Tried and trusted since 2002 by users around the world, the Mooncup menstrual cup offers an end to the waste, discomfort and expense of disposable sanitary protection.

The Mooncup is…

Comfortable – Made from soft, medical-grade silicone, it’s so comfortable you can’t feel it’s there.  While tampons absorb 35% vaginal moisture, the Mooncup menstrual cup won’t dry you out or leave fibres behind.

Convenient – Your Mooncup is always there, ready. No last minute dash to the shops, no stockpiling different absorbency pads or tampons. The Mooncup frees you from having to throw away used products or carry bulky spares (whether smuggled up your sleeve as you head to the toilet or taking up backpack space on your travels).

Reliable – Holding 3 x more than a regular tampon, the Mooncup gives you longer lasting protection on heavier days. And because it’s non-absorbent, it won’t cause dryness when your period’s light.

Money-saving – You only need one Mooncup® that pays for itself after 6-8 months – you’re then saving that monthly spend on sanitary protection.

Gentle – Latex-free, hypoallergenic and containing no dyes, perfumes, BPA, phthalates, plastic, bleaches or toxins, the Mooncup menstrual cup is ideal if you have sensitive skin or allergies.

Which size do I need?

The size you choose

  • is related to your childbearing history and your age as these can affect pelvic floor tone
  • is not related to menstrual flow

Choose size A if you:  Are 30 and over have given birth vaginally at any age.
Choose size B if you:   Are under 30 and have not given birth vaginally

Dimensions

  •     Size A measures 46mm in diameter and 50mm in length.
  •     Size B measures 43 mm in diameter and 50mm in length.

Size A is 3mm bigger than size B – a small difference but it is important!
Both sizes have a stem 21mm long, which you can trim to the length that is right for you.

Is the Mooncup messy?

When you insert the Mooncup, it’s pretty much the same as inserting a tampon in terms of the amount of blood you come into contact with.  When you remove the Mooncup, the outside of it is relatively clean; the vast majority of the blood is collected inside the cup. You hold the Mooncup upright until you empty it into the toilet.  Then you simply rinse, or wipe, before re-inserting.

With the Mooncup menstrual cup you won’t have to deal with the mess of disposing of used sanitary products-  especially when a bin’s not handy. You will see your blood, but you will not have much actual contact with it. You may well find, as many others have done, that once you get used to seeing your blood, it’s actually a good way of being in touch with your body, which can lead to a greater sense of acceptance and well-being.

Can I wear the Mooncup overnight?
The Mooncup menstrual cup is safe to wear overnight. As you can safely wear the Mooncup for 8 hours, simply make sure you empty it before going to bed and then empty it again as soon as you wake up.

If you have heavy periods you may need to empty your Mooncup more often.

It also works well to combine a reusable cloth pad with a Mooncup for overnight.
